Assignment 1: Logline, Treatment, and Character Design(s) #2

Due to the submission having to be ready, I decided to look over my logline and treatment once again and refine them.

Logline:
A young girl’s dull life suddenly gets turned around when mysterious and surprisingly colorful cracks start appearing all around her. She decides to take it upon herself to investigate them to change up her life a bit.

The logline itself didn't change much besides some phrasing.

Treatment:
Iris drags herself home from work. As usual, she is extremely stressed and tired. The world around her appears dull and grey. A constant stream of people move around her, merging into one black mass. Everybody is too absorbed in whatever they are doing to pay attention to what is going on around them. Skyscrapers stand imposingly around her, obscuring almost everything above.
Something falls onto Iris’ shoulder. Thinking it was just a raindrop, she looks up, expecting dark rain clouds forming above her. Instead she finds a bright and unexpectedly colorful crack in the sky. Iris observes a strange, exotic landscape through the crack. She starts panicking. Something like that has never happened before! But no one else even notices anything out of the ordinary. Looking back into the sky, she realizes that the crack opened up further. It was now spreading onto nearby buildings and seemed to vanish into a nearby alley.
Iris slowly approaches said alley. She carefully peeks around the corner and makes her way closer to the crack. Even though she is curious as to what exactly is happening around and in front of her, she is still hesitant. Despite everything she decides to get closer to the crack. What does she have to lose? A bright light envelops her.

When she opens her eyes, she finds herself in an entirely different place, unlike anything she has ever seen before. This new world was nothing like the grey world she is used to. Everything brightly shines in colors.
 She starts to wander around, approaching the edge of a cliff and sits down. Iris takes in the awe-inspiring view in front of her. She feels relaxed and full of energy for what feels like the first time in forever.

Nevertheless, she decides to return. She stands up and approaches the crack again and lets herself be enveloped by the light again after taking one last look back. Iris is determined to make the best of her life now and face whatever problems may await her, having found new energy and vigor in that strange place.

The treatment didn't change that much as well. But I decided to try and split the story in three acts.

Character Design(s):
The character design is probably what changes most over the course of designing the storyboard. At first I decided to try a relatively simple style. In general I stuck with my initial design and color scheme and "rounded it out" a little bit to give it a softer look, which I thought would fit better with the later part of the story. This also gives my character a unique silhouette, which is always nice.
Additionally I formulated a short and concise character bio to go with the character sheet.

Here is Iris' character sheet as it can be found in my proposal.
